Bisexual And Transgender LGBT
Biintimate And Trans sexual activity LGBTHomo informal identity is abstracted as a life-spanning development process. This process eventually leads a person to personal acceptance of a positive brave self-image and a clear personal identity (Minton McDonald, 2012). match to Habermas theory of ego development, it is apply to provide a synthesis and understanding of the literature on the construction and maintenance of the homosexual identity. It is concluded that the homosexual identity oecumenicly emerges in a three- typify process, in which the person progresses from (1) an egocentric interpretation of homoerotic feelings to (2) an internalization of the normative, conventional assumptions ener stringic queerness to (3) a post-conventional phase in which societal norms ar critically evaluated and the positive homophile identity is achieved and managed. In short, homosexual develops in three stages. The first stage is the homoerotic feelings in a self-centered way. The s econd stage is the internalization of the normative, assuming homo sex activity in a convention way. The final stage is a post-conventional phase where the critical evaluation of societal norms happens and the positive gay identity is achieved and managed. However, no mavin knows how exactly homosexuality entered into adult male hi twaddle. tally to Samhsa, the terms lesbian, gay, sissified, and transgender (LGBT) describe distinct pigeonholings within the gay culture. The early initiatives for wad who were gay focused mostly on men. So, in an attempt to draw attention to issues specific to gay women, lesbian is often listed first. People who argon bisexual or transgender have been handed-downly left out of, or underrepresented in, research studies and wellness initiatives. Other than that, a show from Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy revealed that the term homosexuality was coined in the posthumous 19th century by German psychologist, Karoly Maria Benkert. Although the term is innovative, watchwords about sexuality and same-sex attracter have occasi wizd philosophical discussion ranging from Platos Symposium to contemporary imperil theory (Pickett, Brent, 2011). However, the gay group is different from sissies and tom boy.According to Sexuality Information and Education Council of the United State, the dictionary itself documents the distinction between tomboy and nance with gay, bandage tomboy refers to romping, boisterous, boyish young girl, sissy an effeminate boy or man, a timid or cowardly person (Siecus Report, 2003). Thus for a boy been called sissy plunder be devastating, as it pierces his self-image at its most vulnerable point. By severalise, tomboy is said with approving tones, and does not detract from a girls smell of worth (Green, 1979). By this definition, it could be understood that a gay individual is more desirely to have same sex attraction, solely a sissy person whitethorn hardly behave like a girl while having a no rmal sexuality as other heterosexual males.According to National Academic Advi blunder outg Association (NACADA), LGBT refers to Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender. The term gay refers to both men and women who are attracted to persons of the same sex. Lesbian is the term used specifically for women who are romantically and sexually attracted to other women. Bisexual is used to indicate that a person is attracted to both men and women. Some describe bisexuality as an attraction to the qualities a person possesses rather than the gender of the person who possesses the qualities. Bisexual persons often experience a lack of acceptance in both heterosexual and GL communities because of misconceptions and stereotypes associated with bisexuality. Finally, transgender is an comprehensive term used to describe nighone who experiences his/her gender in a way that varies along a continuum from masculine to feminine (Brown Rounsley, 1996 Perez, DeBord Bieschke, 2000 Cunningham, 2003 Sm ith 2006).Hall (1996) coined the term of under erasure to refer to the LGBT individuals who happen to occupy outside the field. Within the gay and lesbian federation, the subjective voices of transgender people are often marginalized or handle (Minter, 2000) It indicates that the social status of the LGBT persons often insignificant and lower in rank.Social networking sites are spots where offspring are easily influence by sexual text, p vitriolicos and videos and to a fault creates such materials by own (Rebecca, 2001). New media helps in addressing issues such as sexual health and their important role of youth at jeopardize depends on media which is in use (Kaiser Family Foundation, 2010). To see the ever present queerness in the most prosaic straightness is important to be sure, as it has been for every(prenominal) oppressed minority. Visibility is much important to gays and lesbian because change of social acceptance.1.1 Problem StatementThis study addresses the issue of t he portrayal of the marginalized group, known to be LGBT, by the new media and to what extent it influences the perceptions of the young individuals towards this group. A study perform by Free Malaysia Today stated that the Centre for Independent Journalism reprimanded the Malayan print media for their lop-sided reporting on the Azwan Ismail video that was first made by a group called Seksualiti Merdeka. Azwan, an engineer, shot to fame after he stated his sexual preference in a video entitled, I am Gay, I am Okay. The video was first aired in an event organized by Seksualiti Merdeka. His open statement, however, did not go down well with other media. The Malay dailies newspaper and the confederation made their displeasure known via various cyber platforms. Some even went to the extent of issuing closing threats against Azwan. One prominent Muslim blogger took the government to task for its failure in curbing the spread of gay and lesbian activities (Free Malaysia Today, 2011).O ther than that, Youth Pride Inc also stated that 36.5 % of GLB youth grades 9-12 have attempted suicide and 20.5% of those attempts resulting in medical care (Robin, 2002). In 2005, Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network (GLSEN) survey of LGBT youth, 90% reported experiencing verbal or physical harassment or verbal assault in the past year (Harris Interactive GLSEN, 2005). All these findings share one conclusion namely LGBT people are greatly discriminated in the society. This study thus chooses to highlight on homosexuality and Seksualiti Merdeka with aims to create awareness among todays generation about the need to respect every persons right, including the rights to be homosexuals.1.2 Research ObjectivesTo discover the new medias portrayal of the LGBT community in Malaysia. To examine the Malaysian youths perceptions towards the LGBT community in habitual and specifically towards Seksualiti Merdeka. To create awareness about the issue of homosexuality among Malaysian youths .1.3 Research QuestionsHow are new medias portrayals of the LGBT community in Malaysia? What are the Malaysian youths perceptions towards the LGBT community and Seksualiti Merdeka? How far Malaysian youths are aware about the issue of homosexuality?1.4 Research HypothesisThis research has one hypothesis, which is if the new media portrays the LGBT community negatively the perceptions of youth towards LGBT community will be negative. This means, if the new media portrays the LGBT community positively, the perceptions of youth towards LGBT community will be positive.1.5 Research SignificanceThis study examines the influence of new media on the youths perception towards LGBT community. The researchers highlight youth perceptions on this issue because in the modern era today, youths are expected to be more open minded obscure of being daring to voice out their opinions about any arising issues. A research by Pew Internet America Life Project (2007) revealed that 94 percent of internet u sers are young people with age range between 18 to 29 years old. This finding indicated that youths today are the active users of new media such as social networks, forums, blogs etc. With new media, the youths can easily get information about LGBT issues that occured in the country or abroad. Therefore, the youths may have more awareness towards LGBT groups. New media is becoming a platform for the youth to express their opinions and to discuss about any issues. Therefore, the researchers think that, there is a need to study more about the influence of new media on youths perceptions towards LGBT community. This study will help to instil awareness and provide a snap off perspective about the issues of LGBT and Seksualiti Merdeka to upcoming generation. It can also be useful and functional as reference for future researchers who are interested to expand the discussion on similar topics and areas.LITERATURE REVIEW2.1 Media Portrayal of LGBTSociety has al ways had a full general fear or disdain for homosexuality. That is why the media tended to support the already common perceptions, instead of challenging them (Montgomery, 1981).According to Kanter (2012), since the start of television programming, the forms of LGBT characters in entertainment or popular culture have both been limited. If they did exist, they were either exaggeratingly stereotypical, or associated with criminality or deviance. All the way through the 1980s, gay characters were seen on television as cameo roles with particular problems that hold almost non-existent lives, absent of desire or relationships. With the spread of the Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS) epidemic, starting in the 1980s and into the 1990s, homosexuals were portrayed in more substantial, reoccurring roles (Netzley, 2010).Jackson Gilbertson (2009) explained that versions of the media lesbian that preceded her contemporary incarnation as hot typically cast her in stereotypical and undesirable ways, for example as m asculine and unattractive (Wilton, 1995 Ciasullo, 2001). Dow (2001) notes how the lesbian on television historically occupied a fleeting space as an object of humor or as a villain. In her contemporary guise, the media lesbian can most often be seen as constituted within post-feminist discourses that produce women as sexually desiring, sexually plural, and self-pleasing (McRobbie, 1996).Gamson (1995) encouraged the homosexuals to tell their views in the talk shows. Talk show is the place where they get the attention they want and rise out their views which they cannot get in other ways. He is also the only spot in mainstream media culture where it is possible for non-heterosexuals to announce for themselves.A study shows the changes in attitudes towards homosexuality in the United State through fashion in public opinion polls. The results were considered by issues connected to homosexuality which integrated legal status, morality, acceptability, causes, familiarity with self-identi fied homosexuals, as well as views on both military and nonmilitary occupations, civil rights, marriage and adoption rights, and AIDS. This also concluded that community behavior have shifted in a free-thinking path (Yang, 1997).2.2 LGBT Youngsters Engagement with New MediaPast research had supported the idea that the Internet is frequently a lifeline in the development of sexual health among LGBT young people (Hillier Harrison, 2007). Many of them first come out online, and report learning about sexual behaviours, pursuing friendships with other LGBT young people, and exploring same-sex attraction online (Harper, Bruce, Serrano, Jamil, 2009 Hillier Harrison, 2007).Social networking tools had been widely used among youngsters in getting sexual health information. Importantly, social networking tools do not only allow researchers and practitioners to receive and provide information, besides also allow the LGBT young people to exchange information and experiences with LGBT peers, engendering broader development of their sexual health (Bargh McKenna, 2004). This opportunity allows for a greater chance for LGBT young people to test out identities and gather information in a more controlled, secret environment than is typical among general Internet resources or colossal social networking sites (Joshua, Louisa, Samantha Brian, 2011).According to Wilkerson (1994), there several types of homophobic attitudes like the treatment of people with human immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) about ways in which HIV is transmitted, media representation of AIDS and the way the medicines purpose reinforces a positive view inimical to lesbians and bisexuals. African-American news websites are growing in influence in terms of the number and loyalty of the unique visitors they attract. Homophobia and discrimination are the top storylines on the African-American news websites we analyzed, followed by culture, righteousness, and same-sex marriage in equal measure (Siegel, 2012).2.3 Health Issues among LGBT CommunityBy the 1990s, lesbian, the LGBT youth have appeared only as a separate cultural group. There are rather few youth identified themself or turn as LGBT since social sanctions and stigma contributed to severe repercussions and isolation, limiting access to supportive communities and awareness of sexual and gender identities in the earlier periods. However, only a handful addressed the needs of youths although a range of lesbian and gay service organizations developed in large cities during the 1970s and 1980s.According to Makadon (2008), elimination of health disparities among LGBT individuals, also collectively called sexual minorities, is a critical need for focus on their health. LGBT populations are disproportionately at risk for violent hate crimes, sexually transmitted infections (STIs) including HIV/ AIDS, a variety of mental health conditions, substance abuse and certain cancers. However, LGBT patients frequently dislodge problems with access to quality health services, experiences disparities in screening for chronic conditions, and report a lack of counseling pertinent to actual lifestyle behaviors.Historically, homosexuality has been judged quite a harshly due to cultural and religious prohibiteds. The Pew Research Centres 2003 Global Attitudes Survey found that the major(ip)ity of people in Western European and major Latin American countries (Mexico, Argentina, Bolivia and Brazil) hope that homosexuality should be accepted by society, while most Russians, Poles and Ukrainians disagreed, and people in Africa and the Middle East objected strongly. Meanwhile, majority of Americans believe that homosexuality should be accepted (Makadon, 2008).Stigma, prejudice and discrimination create a stressful social environment that can lead to a variety of health problems among LGBT group. In LGBT group, minority stress is caused by (a) an external, objective traumatic event, such as being assaulted or being fired from a job (b ) the antepast of rejection and development of vigilance in interactions with others (c) the internalization of negative societal attitudes (also known as internalized homophobia, transphobia, or biphobia) and (d) the concealment of gender identity or sexual penchant out of shame and guilt or to protect oneself from real harm. In addition, research shows a relationship between internalized homophobia/biphobia and various forms of self-harm, including eating disorders, high-risk sexual activity, substance abuse and suicide (Makadon, 2008). According to Rosan (1978), homophobia is a shortened form of homophilephobia, which means the fear of person neither of ones own sex, clearly not the connotation given to these terms in common parlance nor in professional literature. Garner (2008 as cited in Mulick Wright Jr., 2003) describes biphobia as psychological construct of negative attitudes towards bisexual individuals and bisexuality in general. In Malaysia, the rising trend of sexual transmission from 5.3% in 1990 to 22.15% in 2005 (Ministry of Health AIDS/STD Section) indicates that the situation could expand into a general epidemic. Furthermore, the proportion of women infected has risen from 1.4% in 1990 to 14.5% in 2005 (Ministry of Health AIDS/STD Section). Indeed, the female to male ratio of new infections has narrowed substantially. In sharp contrast to men, 64% of HIV infections in women were sexually transmitted. The result of HIV situation has an emergency need to go for gender-sensitive national respond by Malaysia government (Zulkifli, Lee, Yun, Lin, 2007).To do correct in lend a hand to LGBT group for their healthcare, people should spend more time and attention to learn about LGBT health and go support in making educational improvements. Explanation focus on the clinician-patient relationship and address all threes domains of learning which comprised of attitudes, knowledge and skills would help clinicians to provide better care to LGBT patients . Attitudes have a major effect on health outcomes. Attention to attitudes requires growth in the affective arena. For clinicians, this involves developing awareness of and respect for a patients differences and willingness to listen empathically to that persons experience (Makadon, 2008).2.4 LGBT involvement in international human rightsUnder international human rights rectitude, all persons who including LGBT community are entitled to equal rights, including the rights to life, aegis of person and privacy, immunity from torture, arbitrary arrest and detention, and the right to be free from discrimination (The Road To Safety, 2012).There are more than 80 countries still maintaining the laws that bemuse same-sex consensual relations between adults a criminal offence. In year 2008, such laws were used in Morocco to convict six men, after allegations that a underground party they had attended was a gay marriage. On 19 July 2007, six men were arrested after a young man who had bee n arrested on theft charges was coerced by police into naming associates who were presumed to be homosexual (OFlaherty Fisher, 2008).According to journal The Road to Safety (2012), LGBT refugees in Uganda and Kenya are among the most vulnerable of refugee populations. Due to their sexual taste or gender identity, they can be targeted for violence by other refugees and some members of the host populations, harassed and extorted by police officers, and marginalized from accessing services from government institutions, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), or the U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).According to Julie (2006), LGBT advocates have engaged in two very different kinds of activities on the international human rights stage. First, they have engaged in traditional human rights activism, using the traditional human rights techniques of monitoring and reporting to apply existing human rights norms to LGBT lives. These rights included the right to privacy in the crimin al law context the right to equality the right to family the right to non-discrimination the right to freedom from torture (applicable in cases of forcible cures for homosexuality and psychiatric mistreatment generally) and the right of transsexuals to recognition of their new gender. Second, they have tapped into both traditional monitoring techniques and human rights culture-building efforts to promote new international human rights that are important to LGBT lives, including the right to sexuality.Until the mid- to late-1990s, most of LGBT advocates that involved in the international work on gay rights were also working with LGBT-specific organizations, such as the International Lesbian and Gay Association (ILGA). This organization was found in 1978 in Brussels as a world federation organization, and today it is joined by more than 500 gay and lesbian organizations from ninety countries on all inhabited continents. From its inception, ILGA has focused on presenting discrimination on grounds of sexual orientation as a global issue. Another prominent group during this era was the International Gay and Lesbian Human Rights Commission (IGLHRC), founded originally in 1990 by Russian and US activists and now a US-based organization with offices in San Francisco, New York, and Buenos Aires (Julie, 2006).2.5 Seksualiti Merdeka in MalaysiaThe rejection of homosexuality by Malaysian law and culture leads to the rise of human rights to the LGBT people. An increasing integration of Islamic political thinking and course session that builds on literal interpretations of Islamic textual sources is the main reason for why LGBT rights are neglected. Muslims who are under group of LGBT facing politically charged from right of normative Islamic discourses on sexuality and gender. To fight for their rights, LGBT community in Malaysia had formed Seksualiti Merdeka or Sexuality Independence in the year 2008, founded by pain Khee Teik and Jerome Kugan. Seksualiti Merdeka is an annual sexuality rights festival held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and represents a coalition of Malaysian Non-Government Organizations which included Malaysian Bar Council, Suara Rakyat Malaysia (SUARAM), Empower, Pink Triangle Foundation (PT Foundation), United Nations, remission International and general public. The term used to highlight the fact that even after Malaysia independence, not all Malaysians are free to be who they are. The organization believes that everyone in Malaysia deserves to be free from discrimination, harassment and violence for their sexual orientations and their gender identities. They believe it is our right to be responsible for our own body and believe everyone is entitled to the freedom to love and the freedom to be, whether gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, intersexes, straight, asexual, pansexual, or simply fabulous (Sexualiti Merdeka, n.d.).Being a Muslim-majority country, Malaysia would have to reiterate its strong objections to a policy that cl early contradicts the principles enshrined in the religion of Islam. On November 3, 2011, police banned Seksualiti Merdeka as the festival was deemed a threat to national security and a threat to public order. Co-founder of Seksualiti Merdeka Pang Khee Teik said that they are not trying to promote homosexuality. This festival is actually the chance for Malaysians to listen to their story, why after all these years of trying to be somebody else, some of them have found peace with themselves and to accept who they are (Chun, 2011).According to Mosbergen (2012), on September 2012, Malaysias Education Ministry has endorsed guidelines to help parents identify gay and lesbian symptoms in their children. The guidelines are as below-Symptoms of gaysLikes having a fit body and likes to show off by wearing V-neck and sleeveless vestureA preference for tight and bright-colored clothesAttraction to men andA preference for carrying big handbags, similar to those used by women.Symptoms of lesbia nsAttraction to womenBesides their female companions, they tend to distance themselves from other womenA preference for going out, having meals etc. with women and a preference for sleeping in the company of womenNot attracted to menPang Khee Teik, however disagreed with the guidelines and he advised the ministry to cuss on sound research instead of endorsing pseudo-experts as this could be damaging to children. Pang said education is an important tool to address inequality but the ministry had instead sought to use it for teaching hate, promoting inequality and playing politics. Besides that, the ministry should teach all children to be confident and to respect one another, no affair who they are. Seksualiti Merdeka thus was prepared to brief the Education Ministry if its officers were willing to listen to reliable research on the LGBT community (Asia One, 2012).2.6 Online discussion of sexualityAccording to Mckee (2004), in one of the rst published articles addressing online dis cussions of sexuality, the homophobic comments made by composition students using the synchronous chat program interchange to brainstorm possible topics for a research experiment (as cited in Regan, 1993).When a student raised homosexuality as a possible topic, a number of students posted homophobic comments Were taught that homosexuality is a sin A homosexual once made a move on me. I really didnt like it. I mean I really didnt like it and To whoever was thinking about the topics of death and homosexuality, heres a thought, why not join together and do a project on the death of homosexuals? Not by AIDS. At the time of the exchange, the researcher Regan was unsure what to do when confronted with these comments, but she did try to redirect the conversation by interjecting, Has anyone thought about writing about homophobia? but it does not seem that her efforts were successful at redirecting what she called socially sanctioned classroom terrorism (McKee, 2004).Regan was distressed th at the online environment enabled students to articulate their fear and hatred of homosexuals in a way that would not have happened in the traditional classroom, and she concluded that online spaces are not egalitarian, as was frequently claimed at the time.2.7 Discrimination towards LGBT group in Malaysian ContextMalaysia is one of the countries that illegalized homosexuality. Among the reasons for the countrys disapproval of homosexuality is its status as an Islamic nation, where everything that goes against the Islamic law and teaching is strictly prohibited and thus, condemned.According to Goh (2012), the rejection of same-sex behavior is not one that has emerged from a socio-political vacuum. Sexuality is considered taboo (Goh, 2012 as cited in Jerome, 2008) and appears to have a prominent place in the psyche of umteen Malaysians, notably institutional quadrants of Islam. Islamic civil and religious authorities closely observed on Muslims in Malaysia, ravaging the sexual lives of Muslims that are as private as khalwat (illicit close proximity) and zina (illicit sex or adultery) (Lee, 201031). In the Malaysian legal context, male homosexuality or gayness as a globally-recognized cultural public figure has no direct equivalence to sexual identities Section 377A, 377B and 377C of the Malaysian Penal Code make provisions against acts of sodomy or liwat without being gender-specific, although it is in function 2 of the Syariah Criminal Offences (Federal Territory) Act 1997 that one discovers a clearly-defined morphology of liwat as sexual relations between male persons (Goh, 2012).Uproars over male homosexuality in the twentieth and twenty-first centuries came into prominence with two major events. First is the sodomy charges of the former Malaysian Deputy Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and second is the festival celebrating the human rights of sexually-diverse persons, Seksualiti Merdeka. Raging debates on homosexuality in relation to Anwar (Kanaraju, 2007) and the banning of Seksualiti Merdeka in 2011 (Shazwan, 2011) caused innumerable forums on mens masculinities population to mushroom among the Malaysian.Back in the year 1992, the Prime Minister, Dr. Mahathir Mohamad made the statement that democracy would lead to homosexuality (Offord, 1999). Dr Mahathir used the conflation of homosexuality with democracy to consolidate Malaysias cultural borders (and its postcolonial status), so that Malaysian people can maintain the pureness and uniqueness. Dr Mahathir is drawn on cultural specificity in this context to explain the indigenous from the foreign, and homosexuality is conceived of as alien and other. It is in this whiz that Anwar Ibrahim is bothered by the use of the accusation that he is homosexual. Anwar has been notable for his liberal views about democracy and transparent government (The Asian Renaissance, 1996). To simply do external with opposition and perceived threats to his authoritarian rule, Dr. Mahathir can inscribe upon his enemy the descriptor of homosexual (Offord, 1999).Prior to the Asia-Pacific Economic Co-operation (APEC) leaders summit in Kuala Lumpur in late 1998, amid the controversial jailing of Anwar and civil unrest and demonstrations, the role of homosexuality as a political and cultural tool of difference was propounded strongly by the Malaysian immaterial Minister, Dr Abdullah Badawi. It was his essenceion that sodomy was a serious offence in Malaysia it was against the countrys religious and social apprises (The Weekend Australian, 1998). Dr Badawi maintained that in certain places in Europe, and peradventure Australia and America, they do not treat it as something big but to Malaysia, it is bad consider as a scandal.Following Dr Mahathirs accusations against Anwar, a Peoples Anti-Homosexual Voluntary Movement was formed to combat the dangers of homosexuality. In one blow Dr Mahathir succeeded in undermining Anwars credibility and deployed homosexuality as the number one impossi bility. Anwar, also a Muslim, entrenched the perceived, corrupting value of homosexuality by asserting in the Time interview that his character was assassinated by this descriptor (Offord, 1999).Therefore in Southeast Asia today, this is one reason of where homosexuality is located, something that is demonized, and deeply disturbed. It is conflated at once with democracy, corruption, and foreignness. It does seem clear that when the nation state perceives a threat to its existence, that danger is frequently translated into sexualized terms. Same sex sexuality is deployed as the alien other, linked to conspiracy, recruitment, opposition to the nation, and ultimately a threat to civilization (Offord, 1999).2.8 Theory applies between relationship of Media and LGBT CommunityMedia plays a very important role in human life, where people get more of information they need from it. Therefore, to be more understand the influence of media on youths perceptions and opinions about homosexuality , the study chooses to employ framing theory. The concept of framing has been variously attributed to sociologist Erving Goffman and anthropologist Gregory Bateson. Frames allow journalists or media in general cover and package issue. The choice of journalists who shelter a story can influence the way issues are framed. The theory describe that the message framer has the choice of what is to be emphasized in the message, as the view through a window is emphasized by where the carpenter frames, or places, the window. If the window had been placed, or framed, on a different wall, the view would be different (Botan Hazleton, 2006).According to Muthudotin (2010), this theory suggests how media influences the thinking of people. The model of framing is related to the agenda-setting tradition like media telling the youth what to think, but not what to think about. However, it is more focused and expands the research by focusing on the nature of the issues and then places it within a fiel d of meaning which can easily effects the audiences. Framing is an important topic since it can have a great influence. If we look at dissimilar context in Malaysia, sexually explicit content on media will be associated with set and eastern culture which hold norms of decency and morality. Eastern society, which is very different from western society, has an unusual mindset of perceiving sexual content. Everything which is related to sexuality is perceived as taboo and people would refuse to discuss the matter openly. In addition, as a Muslim country, Malaysia struggles to bind the whole thing linked with sexually oriented content (Mariesta, 2012).According to The Star online (2011), Pahang and Malacca are the states that practicing Islamic laws in punish Muslims engaging in homosexuality. Once the state amends and g

If we look at how a few years back within companies the secretary would need to file documents manually and this could take a long time, also apart from the time issue there were more serious problems like documents going missing or being damaged. This is where technology began to progress because there was a new technology progressing and this was the database and this could hold all the documents you demand safely onto the computer and that focal point it would be a lot faster and more secure for the secretary to file the documents. This is just hotshot example there ar many more ways in which technology has attentioned to progress companies. The example given here is just to show that technology is progressing and it will foreclose progressing much further in the future years to come.Human Resource DevelopmentHuman Resource Development is all about learning, learn, developing and educational activity the employees in the work. there is a difference between these four concepts but there all correlated. If for example we looked at learning this can be learnt anywhere and you can be learning yourself the n ew skills, but on the other hand if you looked at education you are being taught something but in a formal way but the two are linked because from both of these you are learning new skills and then you can go on to training and developing them skills.HRD was not always kn induce as this, there was a shift from welfare officers to HRD. HRD was initially scar up for training and culture and this was to uphold the employers in crafts such as electricians, or engineers as an example and from this they would be learning from their masters and will be developing their skills to be fitting to discharge in the workplace. HRD created an integration of people management and development and this could run CIPD which stands for the chartered institute of personnel and development.HRD likes to be strategic and is more for the organisation than the employees it is also a long term method to help to build the company. HRD does like to implement change into their methods and this is why e-lea rning will be very convenient to help within organisations because it is evermore changing and this change would help employees improve on their learning and training and will be able to implement new skills within the workplace.E-learningWhat is e-learning? first of all before I go into detail about how e-learning helps HRD perform you will need to know what e-learning actually is. E-learning used to be known as computer-based learning, this is essentially what it still is, it is a way of learning but on a computer or even these days there is even m-learning which is through the mobile. We need e-learning in everyday life to be able to adapt the involve skills in education, employment, even at home. It can be defined as any learning activity supported by information and communication technologies which is known as ICTs. There are arguments out there concerning the labels, an example of this is whether ICT-based learning is the alike as e-learning, we can gather information from the world wide web channel and this would be our online materials, but we can also get materials from this intranet would could be missed as being from the world wide web but instead this material is delivered through an internal network of personal computers. E-learning is in fact taken to mean any form of electronic technology which can support learning this can be opposed to the chalk and b wishboard technology which used to be the main form of learning.E-learning comprises all forms of electronically supported learning and teaching. To implement the learning process the information and communication systems will serve as a specific media. It is essentially the computer and network-enabled transfer of skills and knowledge. The applications and processes will include web-based learning, computer-based learning, virtual classroom opportunities and also digital collaboration. The contents can be delivered via the net income or even from an audio or video tape. E-learning can be self-taught or even instructor-led, this can be done in groups or even individually, it can include media in the form of text, image animation, video streaming and audio. (e-learning, 2010)What is the purpose of e-learning?The purpose of e-learning is to advance and develop peoples skills. This is why it is so important to HRD because the aim of HRD is to learn, train, develop and educate people this is exactly what e-learning does for people. Without e-learning I think people would be under developed with skills and this may not help them progress into a work place. E-learning can help to increase teacher effectiveness and will also improve the learning of the subject matter. With HRD I think trying to teach people new subjects can be quite tedious and this could be off putting for them involved and this can decrease their knowledge levels and even cause them to lose a job because they havent got the right skills needed for the job, this is where e-learning comes in with HRD becaus e it makes the learning more relevant for them involved and helps them to become more interactive. E-learning now changes the way that people were taught new subjects because before people were being taught on a I will write out the subject and you will go away and learn it basis, but now computers are involved and people can teach themselves and this is the whole purpose of e-learning and it helps HRD to perform better. (Churchill, 2010) progress to you used e-learning? What was your experience?I have used e-learning before, I am actually using a tool of e-learning now and that is Microsoft Word. I am constantly using this to complete assignments for my university work and I can develop my skills using this because there are so many different choices within word for me to be able to expand my learning an example of this would be to add a page count instead of doing this manually I can select an option to do it automatically. Another tool of e-learning that I use regularly is Faceb ook, I use this to keep in touch with friends and family and there are also applications on their which can help me towards education or my occupation. I am always very happy using e-learning and a lot of the time I actually prefer to use e-learning because I find it more interactive and detailed and when I learn this way I find that I actually motivation to learn because I dont get bored and uninterested in the subject.Different forms of e-learningThere are a number of different ways which e-learning can be presented. The main two forms of e-learning are traditional e-learning which is based on highly produced web courses and there is rapid e-learning which is based on the come to rapid because this is quickly produced web courses. In addition to this there are also two causes of fast e-learning which are asynchronous and synchronous. Asynchronous is mainly scholarly person directed and at a self-paced learning which can come under the learning concept for human imaging devel opment. Synchronous is at a set time which could happen in an internet classroom session as an example and this could again come under the education concept for human resource development because education can be taught within a classroom for example. With these two forms of e-learning there are not specific types of companies that should choose between traditional e-learning and rapid e-learning. It just simply means that some projects are best suited for either one of them.Traditional e-learning the content of this is more fixed and it seldom changes, it is also generic and has a long shelf life. However it does need a large cipher in order for it to be put into action.Rapid e-learning the content is rapidly changing and is updated quite frequently, also it may not be generic or have a short shelf life. The budget for this way of learning is limited or non-existent. The information is very hot topic and is just in time. (Readygo, unknown)In order to use traditional or rapid e-l earning correctly you will need to use different tools which are available. Traditional e-learning developers will use Power User tools. These are specifically intentional for graphics artist, web designers, programmers, and instructional design experts, and this will be useful for any persons working in these sectors and will help to develop human resource development. Rapid e-learning which is typically used in small or medium enterprises will need tools that can produce interesting multi level courses but do not require a graphic or design background. This easiest tool which can be used is Power Point. (Readygo, unknown2)Different types of e-learningAs well as different forms of e-learning there are also a number of different types. I think depending on the workplace and the HRD set up within the workplace it does not matter what types of e-learning you use, it will be the type of e-learning which is best suited for the organisation. Below I will just list a couple of examples o f e-learning You thermionic tube Facebook Google search Wikipedia Power Point Microsoft Office Firefox Pb wikisThis is just a small example just to show that there are a number of different contours of e-learning, and also to show that they vary also. There are number of different applications from Microsoft office to Firefox. Each of these applications however does play an important role for human resource development, and will help to implement skills for people. (Hart, 2010)Bangor UniversityAn example of an institute using e-learning to develop HRD is Bangor University. Bangor University implement a lot of e-learning to help their students develop their skills. The main type of e-learning which is used by the university is Blackboard. This is has been brought into the mainstream of teaching and learning activities within the university. It is one of the most central systems which are not only used by the students but also the lecturers also. Within blackboard the lecturers are able to integrate presentations which contain both audio and video content onto the online courses. This will then go on to develop online questions and test provisions which will simultaneously drive learning activity and reduce marking workloads. Also included with Blackboard is the use of online discussion assemblys in supporting the development of learners and understanding and this can become useful for HRD because students can be educated by other students or even lecturers by submitting questions onto the forum as an example.Another example of e-learning which the university use is webmail. This is the emailing tool of e-learning in which students, lecturers, support staff or whoever is involved with the institute can communicate with one some other or even with people outside of the university. (Bangor University, unknown)TescoTesco is an example of a company which also use forms of e-learning within the workplace. Tesco was looking into developing an Online Academy which w as going to be a new learning portal which hopefully in the end would eventually serve the learning needs of over 400,000 staff across the global businesses. Their aim was to develop a cost-effective solution, Tesco would be partnered with Kineo to design and also deploy learning based on Moodle. During 2009 Tesco piloted its Academy Online portal as a proof of concept for a learning management solution and portal for their staff across this business. Tesco wanted explore alternatives with open source technologies, with doing so they cut a potential to make highly customised solutions with a strong focus on the user experience. Tesco chose Kineo to design and develop the portal solution based on the experience they had at combing user experience and web design. This was to make it easier for their staff to understand how to use the portal easily and in a way in which they were able to extend their skills when working for Tesco, also it was to help them to manage and update the sof tware easily. (Kineo, 2009)Critical evaluationAdvantagesThere are many advantages towards e-learning. The advantages are as follows The work can be scheduled around personal and professional work. It can be cost effective because it can reduce the need to travel. It gives the users the option of selecting the learning materials which will meet their level of knowledge and interest. If an organisation wanted to organise a study session it can be canvas wherever they have access to a computer and Internet. E-learning is self-paced which will allow learners to work at their own pace There are a number of different learning styles which are addressed and facilitation of learning occurs through varied activities. An important advantage is that e-learning can build self-knowledge and self-confidence and can also back up the learner to take responsibility for their learning. E-learning is very good for communication because with online portals such as Black Board the users can contact th eir tutors or even students very easily. Interaction can also be an advantage for e-learning because some people may feel less confident talking face-to-face, but with e-learning there are some aspects where you can interact with someone without being face-to-face. E-learning can be time flexible learners are able to access everything they need in one place at any time so long as they have the Internet. More people are able to afford to use e-learning, this can then go on to gain them a place at universities as an example because they can save money from expenses such as travelling, fitting and even high fees for tutors. There are many advantages that come with e-learning, and all these advantages will play a role in human resource development. Also it will help to play a part in a users everyday life and will help them to progress their learning, training, development and education. (writing, 2006, unknown, 2008)DisadvantagesAs well as advantages there are a number of disadvantages which come with e-learning. Below I will list a number of disadvantages There can be some learners who are unmotivated can because of this their poor study habits may fall behind. E-learning is very different from any other kind of learning and this may affect the learners knowledge due to lack of familiar structure, also the will then make the routine longer to get used to. E-learning can be a lonely way of learning which could leave the learner to feel isolated or even miss social interaction. If you required further instructions the instructor for the course may not always be available on demand. A lot of e-learning can be carried out online, however this may be useful for some but for others the can be frustrating due to slow or unreliable Internet connections. personal communication can be vital to how someone learns and because of the lack of this there can be a lack of understanding between the learner and the instructor. There is a limited amount of time for e-learning if you were using video conferencing as an example, and this could lead to the teaching being rushed and the learner not being able to learn enough. As you can see from the above there are some disadvantages, however there are fewer disadvantages than there are advantages. The disadvantages can however help human resource development because they can learn from this and try and avoid the disadvantages and use this to their advantages. (Writing, 2006, unknown, 2008)ConclusionIn my opinion I debate that the role of technology in Human Resource Development is very much needed. I believe that along with technology the main form of this is e-learning and with my own personal use I think that this is very much need in order for us to be able to develop HRD. With e-learning you can learn so many new skills which can help you too improve in the workplace. However there are a couple of disadvantages like the lack of face-to-face communication which can affect how e-learning is used.

Autonomous Vehicle Parking Using Finite State Automata Information Technology Essay
supreme fomite Parking Using Finite State Automata Information Technology EssayOur view to is based on the autonomous pose using finite recount automata. The invention of the autonomous put body in which the elevator, lifter and computer ar connected in group such that each unit swap information as it require and then the system calculating processes of loading and put down a car, issuing the pose tatter and then identifying the set ticket. The pose system involve a elevator , lifter, computer, database for storing fomite number data and information data which only display that how many car be set in different floors and then elevator load car , park in va fecest floor and unloaded the car one by one and. The process of elevator is to pick and lift the car from ground to set world and then back to it owns position. The present invention narrates to a system of controlling a autonomous park system and calculating a set lean and more principally to a parking control system to which a computer, a control unit, a parking ticket issuer, and a parking ticket recognizer ar connected through a network for allowing any required information to be utilise among them.Description of the Prior ArtGenerally in a conventional autonomous parking system, a car is moved to a respective floor along hoist way with use of a lift, and then parked in respective parking distance with use of pallets. In that system, a fee calculator and a parking ticket issuer argon separately operated such that each operation of a parking machine, a parking ticket issuer, and the fee calculator is performed separately.HistoryThe parking of vehicles in the fight c bring down of larger cities of the world has increasingly become a major problem. Not only is there insufficient available land for ascend parking but the high cost of the land makes such a use economically infeasible. In addition, the aggregation of a large amount of vehicles causes traffic, environmental, aesthetic , and pollution problems. The source to locate parking facilities in more remote areas where land cost are lower is also not feasible because of inconvenient distances to areas of employment and possible safety and security problemTo construct large underground parking facility in these congested center city areas also create major problem because of the high cost of the instruction the multitude of underground utility encountered and the inevitable distribution to existing services during the verbalism periodThis complex pip indicates that the use of small low volume underground parking facility with the capability of the fitting within the existing infra structure would be chairing desirable. Not only would be they be able to be located conveniently to the number one woods destination but they also lead potential to maintain the surface above the parking facility in a parkOther generators that demand more convenient, close or adjacent parking solution complicate strik eice buildings, apartments, hotels and institutions where surface parking would not meet the requirements by reason of restricted land area, high land costs, inconvenient access, security, and environmental factors. In receipt to these requests for alternative and convenient parking, the engineering group endeavored to engineer a solution. They had previously solved couples design challenges in the construction industry by utilizing an start out that included standardization and variety reduction in order to reduce construction costs and quantify and to provide greater consumer benefit.Their solution was autonomous parking system, a modular alter parking system that could be installed below or above ground, alone or in repeat modules. This approach provided the advantages of minimizing inconvenience, expediting construction time, and lowering construction cost. Its compact area permitted it to be built in center city areas, while avoiding the problems of interference with dense underground utilities and major disruptions to these services. grounding free parking is an autonomous car planning from a line of traffic into a parking place to perform parallel parking. The autonomous parking intends to develop the ease and safety of driving in controlled situations where much attention and knowledge is required to steer the vehicle. The parking scheme is achieved by means of synchronized control of the steering angle and cannonball along which takes into account the actual circumstance in the environment to make sure collision-free motion within the available lieu.ORThe modify vehicle parking system for a parking facility that be in handle with a vehicle approaching or release the facility with RF signals, or the like, that identify the vehicle and sends the vehicle identification number, time of day, and lane number to a central computer for calculating the parking cost based on rates for each individual vehicle stored in the computer. 7EVOLUTIONARY FUNCTIO NAL TEST OF THE self-directed PARKING SYSTEMTHE AUTONOMOUS PARKING SYSTEM As an automobile manufacturer, DaimlerChrysler is continuously developing new systems in order to improve vehicle safety, quality, and comfort. Within this context, prototypical vehicle systems are developed, which support autonomous vehicle parking a function that might be introduced to the market in some years time. The autonomous parking systems regarded in this paper are intended to automate parking lengthways into a parking space, like shown in material body.1. For this purpose, the vehicle is equipped with environmental sensors, which register objects meet the vehicle. On passing along, the system can recognize sufficiently large parking spaces and can signal to the driver that a parking space has been found. If the driver decides to park in the vehicle can do this automatically.Fig 1 Functionality of Autonomous Parking musical arrangement 1In Fig.2 the system environment for the autonomous parking system is shown. The inputs are sensor data, which contain information on the responsibility of the vehicle, e.g. vehicle speed or steering position, and information from the environmental sensors, which register objects on the left and right hand side of the vehicle. For output the system possesses an interface to the vehicle actors, where the vehicles velocity and steering angle will be set. The internal structure of the autonomous parkingFig 2 System Environment- 2The parking space detection processes the data from the environmental sensor systems and delivers the recognized geometry of a parking space if it has been detected to be sufficiently large. The parking controller component uses the geometry data of the parking space together with the data from the vehicle sensors to steer the vehicle through the parking procedure. For this purpose, velocity and steering angle are set for the vehicle actors.Fig 3 Subcomponents of Autonomous Parking System 3Some proposals for solving o f parking problemsA good decision is to be built machine-driven parking systems for cars preferably served by stacker cranes (see fig 4), that are the basic element of the automated warehouse structures.Fig 4 4Brief Description about FINITE STATE AUTOMATAFinite-State AutomataA finite-state transducer whose output components are ignored is called a finite-state zombie. Formally, afinite-stateautomatonM is a tuple , where Q,, q0, and F are defined as for finite-state transducers, and the musical passage tableis a relation from Q - () to Q.Kinds of Finite State Automata1. DFA2. NFAWhat is NFA?In the theory of computation, nondeterministic finite automaton (NFA)is afinite state machinewhere for each pair of state and input symbol there may be several possible succeeding(prenominal) states. This distinguishes it from thedeterministic finite automaton(DFA), where the next possible state is uniquely determined. Although the DFA and NFA have distinct definitions, it may be shown in the formal theory that they are equivalent, in that, for any given NFA, one may construct an equivalent DFA, and vice-versa this is thepower set construction. Both types of automata recognize onlyregular languages. Non-deterministic finite state machines are sometimes studied by the namesub shifts of finite type. Non-deterministic finite state machines are generalized byprobabi tipic automata, which assign a probability to each state transition.Formal DefinitionTwo similar types of NFAs are commonly defined the NFA and theNFA with -moves. The ordinary NFA is defined as a5-tuple, (Q, ,T,q0, F), consisting ofa finitesetof statesQa finite set ofinput symbolsa transitionfunctionTQ- P(Q).aninitial(orstart) stateq0Qa set of statesFdistinguished as judge(orfinal)statesFQ.What is DFA?In thetheory of computation, adeterministic finite state machine-also known asdeterministic finite state automaton(DFSA) is afinite state machinewhere for each pair of state and input symbol there is one and only one transition to a next state, as opposed to anondeterministic finite-state machine, which has the possibility of multiple transitions . DFAs recognize the set ofregular languagesand no other languages.A DFA will take in a string of input symbols. For each input symbol it will then transition to a state given by pursuit a transition function. When the last input symbol has been received it will either accept or reject the string depending on whether the DFA is in an accepting state or a non-accepting state.Formal DefinitionA DFA is a 5-tuple, (Q, , ,q0,F), consisting ofa finite set ofstates(Q)a finite set of input symbols called the alphabet()a transitionfunction(Q- Q)astart state(q0Q)a set ofaccept states(FQ)Finite State Machine of Autonomous Vehicle parkingLanguage (L) = pick car, first floor, second floor, third floor, go to, back, ground, elevatorThird FloorSecond FloorFirst FloorElevator dirtstand Back into positiongotoPick Car back goto gotogotoBackback gotogotoFig 5 Finit e State Machine of Autonomous Vehicle parkingNFA to DFAFinite State Machine of Autonomous Vehicle parkingLet assigned digit code to each statement in above machine.edcba0 010 11 100 11Tabular FormS x I01aABbAcdecADdCEeDerrorcdeAcddeacdAcbdedeCdEacAbdbdeAcdcdecdAcdebdAccdebacdecddeacbdeDFA Machine00 1 01 0acd11 1 0 00bd1 0 1100Q=a,b,c,d,eq0=aqf=a,c,d,eLanguage= 0,1S=Q X IS= (a, 0) = a S= (a, 1) = bS= (b, 0) = a S= (b, 1) = cdeS=(c, 0) = a S=(c, 1) = dS= (d, 0) = c S= (d, 1) = eS= (e, 0) = d S= (e, 1) =errorAutonomous Parking SolutionsAutonomous parking solutions are capable to way store huge number of vehicles within sufficient space. How Autonomous Parking System worksThe procedure of autonomous parking solution begins as soon as elevator come to pick the car, the door I s then closed and after that stored into vacant parking space and automatically return to entry box when we press the button.Maximizing the use of space for parkingBesides the ease of parking for the user, maximum pa rking capacity is guaranteed because there are no slopes of carriageways with the autonomous parker.Reasons why Autonomous Parking System is the ideal solutionThere are several reason why autonomous park is the ideal solution because whenever and wherever the huge number of vehicle park need to be park over the available space, e.g. optimum access times, comfortable operation, protection against theft, robbery, burglary and harm, low maintenance requirements, and last but not least, high adaptability to the individual garage planning project with respect to the options regarding maximum possible car heights. 6 alter Parking General DescriptionsBelow is a list of terms and definitions to better assist you in understanding the nomenclature in the FATA Sky parks automated parking systems. doorway section The point where the driver parks their vehicle.Exit section The point where the driver retrieves their vehicle and where the APS will transport the vehicle when the request is made.J oint Entry and Exit The vehicle is dropped off and picked up at the same section. This option requires extra space allow for a turntable to turn the vehicle around.Turntable Speeds up the retrieval time by simplifying the overstep system in combination sections. The vehicle is turned 180 degrees and is ready to be driven forward out of theCombined Entry/Exit module, rather than being backed out.Robot Shuttle The mechanical part of the system that picks up the parked vehicle in the entry/exit or combo section and moves the vehicles horizontally along the primary walkway to a unsloped lift or available parking space. Multiple robots can be used.Dedicated Robots Robot shuttles that are dedicated to each parking floor. benefit once the vehicle is put down on a vertical lift the robot can retrieve another call on that level. The dedicated choice is generally a faster system.Roaming Robots Robot shuttles that blend through the system with the vehicles on them by riding up on a e nd-of-aisle lift. Benefit less robots are used, but release times are compact.Autonomous The robots move separately from each other. Advantage if a robot requires service the efficiency of the system is only modestly affected.Off-Corridor Vertical Lift The portion of the system that moves the vehicles vertically from the entry level to an above/below ground-parking floor. Used in conjunction with dedicated robot shuttles and only transfers the vehicle to alternate floors. Typically used on systems that have a robot aisle greater than 75-100 in length to increase delivery speeds.End-of-aisle Vertical Lift The section of the system that moves the vehicles vertically from the entry level to an above/below ground-parking floor. Used in combination withRoaming robot transports and lifts the robot carry and vehicle to alternate floors. Typically used for systems with a robot aisle less than 100 in length.Layout The organization of the parking structure including the demonstration of parked vehicles off of the robot aisle.Conventional parking pass on to the typical concrete parking structures with vehicle slope access to multiple floors. Non-AutomatedQueuing Time Queuing time refers to the time necessary the system is busy originally another vehicle is allowed to enter the system. Queuing time is dependent relative on the entry and exit time of the driver (length of time to depart or enter the parked car) and the amount of automated lifts, robots, and entry / exit modules utilized.Attendant Requirements No attendant is required, however, an attendant is useful in assisting drivers to negotiate the system. If the parking lot is move over to the public and not strictly the building tenants, an attendant is recommended.Benefit of parking Guidance System/Autonomous Parking SystemThe obvious benefit of automated parking systemsis the ability to fit more cars in less space which can solve many parking problems, but there are many other benefits to the developer, operator, consumer and society in general. For example, consider the countless acresof open space consumed byparking lotsand all the storm water overflow generated by that entire impervious surface. Self park ramp garagesare more efficient, but still take twice the space as an automated parking facility. By contrast, automated parking garages are a green solution since theypreserve open space, have low energy consumption and have no carbon emissions, because vehicles are shut off before being parked in the system.General benefitsDecrease in time spent for searching parking. The efficiency and accessibility benefits from decreased searching can also cause good result in some lessening in accidents due to reduced driver frustrationReduced pollution. Changes in pollutant emissions due to Parking Guidance information are most closely related to changes in overall travel time, for example, yearly pollutant release are reported to have been reduced due to a PGI system in Munich, Germany. Reduction in traffic jams due to few cars driving around for spaces searching.Elimination of stand in line entering parking facilities because drivers will not go to a facility where there is no available space.Reduction in unlawfully parked vehicles.Better distribution of flow and parking demand through the area.Autonomous parking systems result in higher revenues and profitability for the parking facilities.Operator Benefits Reduced labor Reduced liability Reduced lighting HVAC Total control over access enforcementConsumer genial Benefits Eliminate fender benders Eliminate theft and vandalism Reduce carbon emissions Preserve open spaceHighlights of autonomous parkingThe main highlights of the automated parking systems served by stacker crane in comparison with other systems areoptimum use of the available space, minimum room of a parking automobile,no need of platforms and staircases, module principle of building, that meets the requirements of the clients, shortening the time n eeded for building a parking system,Less time for parking and forwarding because of the high traveling speed of the stacker crane and simultaneously vertical and horizontal movement and so on.Examples of Autonomous Parking SystemFeatures of Hoboken, New JerseyBenefits of the autonomous parking system include optimization of space utilization, security, convenience, lower garage owners liability insurance, greater reduction schedule, lower lighting and ventilation requirements (no cars driving around inside no mountain go inside), and lower emissions and less pollution (clean parking system).Car Towers at the Autostadt A Hive for BeetlesFig 5FeaturesThe Car Towers is a 20-story tall car warehousing space tower in Wolfsburg, Germany. Its owned operated by Volkswagen, which enlighten why all the cars around 800 at full capacity are VWs. The Car Towers has a good deal been used to demonstrate public parking garages of the future even though its a private endeavor that merely allows VW to save space.Dubai Robotic Car parkFig - 8FeaturesThe robotic car park in Deira, Dubai (above) doesnt have the enough storage space of the Car Towers (14 cars instead of 800) but it is practical, workable and open for business. A 67-car capacity robot car park in New Yorks Chinatown works on the same principal.CONCLUSIONSThe future belongs to the automated parking garages and the efforts made in this direction account for the investments.Automated parking garages are better decision from the social point of view. For example the owners of cars who park their cars in parking automat are forced to pay higher parking charges. This is extremely important in order to shorten the time for servicing a single cell for parking, which is a basic criteria in building automated parking systems for cars.SummaryThe primary purpose of this autonomous parking memorise was to determine short-term and long-term recommendations to improve parking in cities. The parking study initially evaluated existing conditions, determined primarily through reviews of background materials (including previous parking studies), . The examination of existing conditions provided the baseline data from which future development, with its impact on parking supply and demand, could be evaluated. Finally, parking alternatives were considered to address future needs, as well as improve the utilization and efficiency of existing parking resources. upcoming parking alternatives included potential parking supply changes, as well as general parking management strategies.

Heart of Darkness Essay examples -- essays research papers
Characters1.The protagonist of Heart of Darkness is a person named Charlie Marlow. Oddly, his name barely appears once in the novel. Marlow is philosophical, independent-minded, and generally skeptical of those around him. He is also a master storyteller, eloquent and able to draw his listeners into his tale. Although Marlow shares many of his fellow Europeans prejudices, he has seen enough of the world and enough debased white men to make him skeptical of imperialism. An example of Marlow being independent-minded and philosophical is when he takes a trip up a river, as a break from working on ships. Marlow describes the trip as a journey back in time, to a prehistoric earth. This respect on how he regards colonized people as primitive, which is his philosophical viewpoint.2.Of all the spirits in the book, the only one with somewhat of a negative connotation is the character of the general manager (of the Company (the boating company)). He is the chief agent of the Company in its African territory, who runs the Central Station. He owes his success to a broad-shouldered constitution that allows him to outlive all of his competitors. He is average in appearance and unremarkable in abilities, just he possesses a strange capacity to stupefy uneasiness in those around him, keeping everyone sufficiently alert (against their will) for him to exert his control over them. An example of the manager producing uneasiness in others is when he learns of Kurtzs sick condition, he actually gets happy, because now he can have more control of the group as an individual. Kurtz was the unofficial leader, and soon, the manager could move in.3.Kurtz, who is not the protagonist or antagonist is a very significant character in the book as Marlow and Kurtz essentially form a team as the novel progresses. He is the chief of the Inner Station and Marlow basically follows him. Kurtz is a man of many talents (he is a talented musician and painter). His abilities are nothing without his personal appeal and his ability to lead. Kurtz is a man who understands the power of words, and his writings present a complexity that obscures their horrifying message (his writings are often hard to understand, as they are complex in structure, often hiding the morbid message behind them). Although he remains a puzzle, e... ...get over Kurtz and get on with her protest life.Etcetera21.I would recommend this book for people to read because of how it explores the human condition (Conrad was big on this theme) and how each character is unique and recognizable inside the context. Conrad pays much attention to detail and it is evident in Heart of Darkness. Conrads skills as an author are also evident in the intricate express in the novel.22.This novel really is not controversial. It tells merely of Conrads experiences during his travels and as a mechanic/sailor for ships in France. There is violence in it, precisely that does not make it controversial. There is also a part whe re there is a group of native cannibals, which can be looked at as controversial, but would not be extreme enough to create a cause for banning.23.I think it is fair for a book to be banned as long as it is a committee or a board that makes the decision. One person cannot decide that some book needs to be banned, because that is biased. If a book was banned, people could still read it, because all they need to do is go to a public library and read it.

Photography and Art Essay -- Technology Essays
Photography and Art In the United States today, technology is all-important to a great deal of the population, whether it is a means of communication or an aid for national security. Technological devices and terminology are ubiquitous and have become a part of everyday life. On the road, many drivers can be found talking and chattering away into their cell phones. At business meetings, many executives will present presentations in PowerPoint, while others will jot pop out notes in their Personal Digital Assistants, or PDAs. Many people have their own websites on the Internet, and even more people communicate through electronic mail. Tourists can be found snapping shots of landscapes and buildings with digital cameras or recording the scenery with digital camcorders. There is no end to the number of examples of how technology has touched our lives. This assay will delineate the development of the digital camera and digital art as a representation of the digital world, since the digi tal world is much in any case large of a subject to encompass in one essay. Two influences on the development of digital picture taking and art are late-Victorian construction of the machinery of cultivation organization and Modernist visual forms. However, it is not sufficient to stop with these two forces, for advanced digital programs have also played a key role in the shaping of digital photography and art.Within the context of the current technological age, digital photography has been developed, modified, and brought into the lives of everyday people. In some shape or form, photography has importance to everyone. At its simplest level, photography allows people to remember their pasts and to share experiences with others. Ethiopia Essay -- Economy Geography Ethiopia Essays
EthiopiaIt stands as ane of the oldest nations of the world, dating hind end to 1000 BC when the fairy of Sheba visited King Solomon. Ethiopia was a nation with predict, a nation with riches and the great Ivory market as far as the eye can see. So one would assume that Ethiopia is the place to live. Well if you have been to Ethiopia you would see this is non the case.
